Sometimes a marriage is slow like a Waltz, sometimes it is peppy like a Salsa, sometimes it is hot like a Tango and sometimes it is soulful like Jazz … dance to any rhythm of life … dance like there is no tomorrow!
In 2008, for our 25th wedding anniversary, I decided to explore Timamoon near Hazyview, the lodge whose tagline reads: ‘The most seductive lodge on the planet’. I booked the Moon River villa, as it appeared to be the most secluded of the six villas.

Moon River has a private rim flowing pool, poised at the edge of the world with endless views. An outside daybed, built on stilts, calls for long, lavish picnic lunches and time to enjoy the peace and tranquillity of your surroundings.

Add to this a luxurious four-poster bed, satin sheets, candlelit bubble bath, an outside shower and a log fireplace. It felt like heaven!
Dinner was an intimate affair with each meal an exotic culinary experience, which really was just the cherry on top. None of the diners would make eye contact with another couple or person … we were all there for a special evening with our loved one.

All of this added to a perfect sensuous weekend. The mythical atmosphere of intimacy and tranquillity makes Timamoon without a doubt one of the most romantic destinations in South Africa.
